Founded in 2015, Curious Sarah started as a platform for would-be travelers to find the inspiration and fire to kick their excuses to the curb and start traveling. Curious Sarah is for anyone who wants to save money on travel, whether you travel year-round, for summer break, and most of all, if you’re planning your first trip.
But why should you listen to me?
Well for starters, I have a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and Cultural Anthropology. In real-world jargon, that means that my brain is equal parts gettin-down-to-business (AKA creative problem solving, marketing, organization leadership) and cultural curiosity. Also, I’m a class A cheapskate, so if anyone’s looking to save money, it’s me.
After college, I worked two jobs and hustled like crazy so I could buy an around the world plane ticket and cross off at least three major things from my bucket list. I realized working at a restaurant and a grocery store wouldn’t allow me to travel as much as I wanted using traditional methods so I had to be strategic and resourceful. I read more about budget travel in those five months after graduation than many of my classmates read on their subject in their entire university stay.
During the planning process, I was met with a sea full of doubters and a boat-load of people who said they could never afford to travel. So I decided to catalog all I learned in my planning and commit myself to finding creative ways to make travel work in various circumstances. I even wrote a book breaking down how I did it and how someone like me could do it, too. (The book is currently being edited and redesigned. More to come on that, later.)
So thank you for stopping by. Above all, I want to be a valuable resource to anyone who needs a little help. If you don’t see a post about a certain subject or need clarification on anything, please feel free to reach out on social media or email me.
